Do you have a Athlon64 or a Pentium4 EM64T processor ? Are you using a 32-bit Operating System ?If the answer to both the above questions is true, then your missing out the true performance potential of your processor. By using a 32-bit operating system, you are giving a narrow working path for your 64-bit processor, hence limiting its capability.

A 64-bit Operating System is proved to give much better Memory Read timings than a 32-bit Operating System used with the same processor or similar. These Benchmarks clearly show us the much weaker Athlon64 X2 4400+ processor beating the mighty Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor in the Memory Timings. (please ignore the bold style)
