Dell has decided to tap the open source market with the Dimension N series which are powered by 64-bit Pentium D or AMD Athlon X2 processors and come with an unformatted hard drive so you can load the OS of your choice Linux, Free BSD, etc. and even Windows.
With the launch of the Dimension N series, Dell plans to allow users to choose the Operating System of their choice and not pay money to buy original copies if they intend not to use it. This means that you can buy and install the OS you intend to use, such as 64-bit versions of the upcoming Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, FreeBSD, Fedora Core, Ubuntu or any other Linux distro.
